High performance 3D printer
The MendelMax 1.5 is specifically designed for high performance Reprap 3D printing demands. Its thick aluminum extrusions (profiles) create a great stability on the Axis which has extremely positive effects on the smooth operation of the printer. The rigid frame construction of the MendelMax 1.5 allows the 3D printer to run at higher speeds without loosing too much on the overall printing quality.
The great initial design of the MendelMax 1.5 has been improved by us on some vital key areas to even further increase the overall performance and printing quality. We have switched the multiple plated sandwich y-carriage construction for a lightweight, single Trespa (HPL) y-carriage plate. Trespa is a better material of choice for the y-carriage than the heavier aluminium as the carriage creates less resistance. The printed z motor coupler parts were changed by machined aluminum z motor couplers which give a preciser transition of the motors to the z axis of your MendelMax 1.5 3D printer.

The RAMPS 1.4 3D Printer Controller is a complete electronics solution for driving your MendelMax 1.5 Reprap 3D Printer. The RAMPS 1.4 3D Printer Controller Board interfaces with an Arduino compatible Mega 2560 board and has an extra slot for a 5th stepper motor driver which gives you the option of upgrading your machine with an extra extruder in the future. It is possible to upgrade your full kit with a LCD Display Controller for standalone printing (printing without a pc connected). We highly recommend operating the printer with an LCD Display Controller as your pc can have a negatively influence on the print job. The Display Controller has a SD card reader & fan control. The case for the LCD display can be printed from Thingiverse.
You can upgrade your MendelMax 1.5 - Full DIY Kit with a fan and mount that is attached directly to the extruder. This fan is highly recommended, especially for printing PLA, as it will cool the extruded filament. The fan will improve bridging and overhang performance. Adding a fan also means that you don't need to insert a minimum layer time in your slicing profile.
